The Penasco Independent School District is located in Taos County and is surrounded by the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range.
The Jicarita mountain, pictured here, rises majestically over the valley and seems to embrace it in a proctective hold.
The school district serves Penasco and the surrounding communities, including: Rio Lucio, Picuris Pueblo, Rodarte, Llano de San Juan,
Llano Largo, Llano de la Yeuga, Vadito, Placitas, Chamisal, Ojito, Ojo Sarco, El Valle, Trampas, Truchas, and Dixon.
